This Saturday will be an especially busy weekend. First Marty will be holding down the fort at the Pearl Farmer’s Market Saturday morning. Please be kind and gentle with him – he is NOT a gardener. He will have some bare root daylilies, some bulbine (see yesterday’s blog), some neat little sunflowers, some sedums, and a few other things. All in all it will be pretty simple for him. The sunflowers that he will have are shorties. The first one Sunbright Kids – only gets to be about 8″ tall, and the second one Sundance Kids gets between 15 – 17″ tall. Assemetry Good Morning America Pat needs our help identifying her blooming unknown [...] Deer seem to have taken a vacation from my yard, so for now the daylilies are safe . . They have been allowed to grow and to have scapes and I’ve had some blooms. I don’t know if rains have greened up the deer’s regular grazing areas or if the Bobbex helped to keep them away. But whatever the reason, I am grateful to see some scapes and [...] Daylily blooms, Forbidden Fantasy, Blue Voodoo, and Spirit [...] More blooms from [...] SADS’ April 19th meeting will be on floral design by Boyd Farar. Boyd is going to creating 8 – 10 small table top designs with silk flowers (no bugs and never needs watering!!!!) that we will then auction off for donations to the [...] The first blooms always get me going again too, especially the ones in early spring. Now my daylilies seem to be about 2 weeks behind what they were last year, I’ve only seen a couple of scapes on my pots and none in my field yet. My beared iris are just starting to bloom as well.
